Unifying Dantian Alignment, Structure, and Internal Pow Level 4 marks the transition from external practice to true internal development in Taijiquan. At this stage, the focus is no longer on memorizing movements, but on refining how the body, breath, and intention work together as one system. The training emphasizes the alignment and coordination of the Three Dantians (三丹田 – Sān Dāntián): Lower Dantian (下丹田 – Xià Dāntián): root, balance, and stability 🌱 Middle Dantian (中丹田 – Zhōng Dāntián): breath regulation and internal rhythm 💨 Upper Dantian (上丹田 – Shàng Dāntián): intention (意 – Yì) and awareness 🧠 Through correct practice, these centers align along a vertical axis, allowing movement to originate from the core instead of isolated limbs. A key principle developed in this level is the structural alignment often referred to as Tiānyuán (天圓) through proper pelvic positioning. By gently stabilizing the pelvis, the practitioner connects the lower body to the torso, creating a continuous internal pathway. This supports Qi sinking to the Dantian (氣沉丹田 – Qì Chén Dāntián) and maintains an upright, suspended spine 🔗 As this connection develops, the body begins to express whole-body power (整勁 – Zhěng Jìn), where every movement is unified and efficient. Purpose of the Training The purpose of Level 4 is to transform form into function and awareness into control. The practitioner begins to: Refine body method (身法 – Shēnfǎ) Maintain continuous flow (連綿不斷 – Lián Mián Bù Duàn) 🌊 Integrate breath, structure, and intention Develop internal coordination in every movement Key Benefits Training at this level develops: Strong root and balance without stiffness Efficient power from the center (丹田發力 – Dāntián Fālì) Full-body coordination (整體 – Zhěngtǐ) Greater sensitivity (聽勁 – Tīng Jìn) Relaxation with structure (鬆而不散 – Sōng Ér Bù Sǎn) Ultimately, the practitioner embodies the principle: 意到氣到,氣到力到 (Where intention goes, Qi follows, and power manifests) ☯️
