The Jung Shee

"Jung Shee" or "Chungsi" typically refers to the gatekeeper or guardian figure in a traditional gōngfu family style. This individual is often a senior practitioner within the lineage who holds the responsibility of preserving and passing down the teachings and traditions of the style to future generations. The Jung Shee plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and authenticity of the martial art system within the family, ensuring that it is passed down accurately and with respect to its origins. They are often highly respected and regarded as the custodian of the family's or clan's martial heritage.

Traditionally, a person does not proclaim himself as a Jung Shee, this is a title that you earn throughout the years of practicing and mastering a style from a grandmaster, this is a very respectful title in the martial arts world which comes after the title of Sifu, this kind of title is an honor that is commonly bestowed upon a person by others.

Ronald Mesia is the founder and head instructor of the Chi Wu Men Athletic Association (氣武門), an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the living traditions of Chinese martial arts. His journey began in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2006, when he first entered a community Mouh Gwun (武館 – martial arts school). What started as a dream inspired by Bruce Lee and classic martial arts films soon became a lifelong path of discipline, learning, and cultural heritage.

Ronald has dedicated himself to training in both traditional and modern systems, studying under highly respected Sīfú (師父) across different lineages. His practice includes Sanda (散打), Kuaijiao / Shuai Jiao (摔跤), Wing Chun (詠春拳), Tai Chi (太極拳), Bak Fu Pai (白虎派), Hung Mo Pai (洪巫派), Taiji Quan and Qi Gong (太極拳) and Jeet Kune Do (截拳道).

He became a disciple of Sifu Rafael Rivero (Rafael Qian), inheriting the teachings of Grandmasters Qian Lan Gen and Zang Zhi Guo in Tai Chi and Qi Gong. He later trained under Sifu Didier Beddar, one of the leading exponents of Wing Chun in the world, and worked to bring Beddar’s seminars to the United States. Ronald also became a disciple of Sifu Ding Dao Bai (Dane Tobias), inheriting the Hakka traditions of Bak Fu Pai and Hung Mo Pai, connected to Grandmaster Doo Wai.

Ronald studied under Sifu Lung Fei Li, becoming the sole representative and inheritor of the Hei Ng Mun (氣五門) style. This rare system preserves the traditional Southern Cat Fist, which originated within the Five Gate Fist, a unique branch of Chinese martial arts that has been carefully passed down through generations. Its lineage traces directly back to Leung Wing Hang, ensuring that the art remains firmly rooted in its authentic origins and traditions.

Ronald expanded his practice under Sifu Harinder Singh, becoming part of the Jeet Kune Do Athletic Association and carrying forward the philosophy of Bruce Lee’s martial art. He also trained under Shifu Diego de Souza, officially nominated by the Brazilian Kung Fu Federation (CBKW) and Black Belt Magazine as the Shuai Jiao Gatekeeper, preserving the wrestling heritage within Kung Fu. Ronald’s Shuai Jiao journey also led him to study with Jan Yu and Grandmaster Dan Wang in Cupertino, California deepening his knowledge of traditional Chinese wrestling.

Beyond his training, Ronald has been recognized internationally. In 2021, he was appointed Ambassador of the Brazilian Wushu Sanda Federation in the United States, and in the same year, he became an official representative of the Ving Tsun Athletic Association (詠春體育會), founded in 1967 by Grandmaster Ip Man in Hong Kong.

Today, as president of Chi Wu Men, Ronald continues to work with masters worldwide, promoting martial arts as both a cultural treasure and a practical discipline. His philosophy emphasizes that true Kung Fu cannot exist only in theory — it must be tested, combat application, and the discipline of daily training. For him, Kung Fu (功夫) is not only about fighting, but about cultivating character, respect, health, and balance.
